The fusion of a proton and a boron nucleus results in the emission of alpha particles and helium. The energy released through this process is distributed over three alpha particles in the form of kinetic energy (velocity). An alpha particle is simply a fully ionized (charged) Helium atom, and as a charged particle it can interact with electromagnetic fields.
Marvel Fusion’s main goal is to harness a large fraction of the alpha particle kinetic energy via induction in magnetic and electrostatic fields, similar to how a dynamo works. This approach offers significantly lower losses than in the classic Carnot cycle (steam and turbines) that is used in most conventional power plants. Marvel Fusion is targeting a conversion efficiency of up to 70 percent by combining magnetic, electrostatic and steam power generation.
